The opening round of the Italian GT Sprint Championship 2026 took place at the iconic Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, setting the stage for the start of the season. Making its debut in the GT3 Sprint category, Stratia Motorsport fielded the duo of Alexey Denisov and Giuseppe Fascicolo behind the wheel of their Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
Competing in the fiercely contested GT3 AM class, the team faced an experienced grid from the outset. The primary objective was clear: gain experience, complete both races, and build a solid foundation for the rest of the season.
In Race 1, Denisov and Fascicolo delivered a consistent performance to secure 6th place in class, staying out of trouble and maintaining a steady pace. Race 2 proved more challenging, with the pair finishing 9th in class after a tightly fought contest in an even more competitive field.
Following the Imola weekend, the Stratia Motorsport crew sits 8th in the AM class standings, collecting 8 championship points. While the results remain modest compared to the front-runners, they represent an important first step in what is a long and demanding season.
Despite the challenges, the weekend provided several positives for the team, as strong reliability across both races, gradual improvement in overall pace and crucial experience in sprint race management. These elements will be key as the team continues to develop throughout the championship.
With multiple rounds still to come, Denisov and Fascicolo have plenty of opportunities to move up the order. The focus will now be on closing the gap to the top five in the AM class, with podium finishes a realistic target as performance continues to improve.
